ode to Goji

tag:

today Andres & i parted ways with a dear friend. Goji was a part of the deal in the home we moved into just over a year ago. it was a reluctant relationship for me at first...for a very short time. this little sweetie head softened us up quickly and over the months we shared, worked her way deep into our hearts. she was our nearly constant companion--river guide, hiking buddy, security guard, loving support, and a continual source of amusement.

i am so grateful to have had her in my life and to have shared so many adventures with her. yesterday was our final adventure with her...at least in this phase of our lives. we had an amazing day of hiking, exploring and floating on the Yuba River...one of her and our favorite ways to spend a day! throughout the day we  gave her extra love and treats. :-) there were some heavy hearted moments, but mostly it was a day of appreciation of the joy she added to our year's experience.

as is Goji, life is in constant motion...things change. a whole heap of changes happened that ultimately led Goji to a new family...a wonderful family complete with 3 kids who adore her, a horse, a burro, chickens, a cat and a turkey named Tom. my heart and mind are greatly eased knowing what an awesome new situation she has landed in.

i'm sending you love, Goji, in your transition. may you be received and appreciated for all you have to offer and teach. may you learn and grow and thrive in your new environment. may you find even greater joy in the company you now keep, knowing you always have friends in the people and animals whose lives you touched. Andres, Eric, Amrita, Iver, Wendy, Gracie, Naya & i will miss your precious companionship. i already do.
